The Armoured Stone system is effectively a stone tile. The simple, high performance unit comes ready-to-install. They are 50% smaller than traditional stone tiles, so they can easily be transported, handled and installed on the roof.
Our easy 1m2 system consists of three stone widths, all at one consistent length, to provide a random or diminishing appearance with ease. The adjustable gauge means easy planning, setting out and adjustments on site.
How does it work?
The Armoured Stone system provides lightweight stone roofing. Low pitch stone roofing is now possible down to 17.5 degrees with high performance.
The natural, high quality, graded stone is bonded to our patented GRP backplate, to form a real stone tile system. When installing, the backplate makes it extremely easy, as the single unit hooks over the batten and interlocks, with the GRP plate providing complete permanent waterproofing. Screws provided then fix through the predrilled holes into the batten.
The single lap use of stone means that there is no longer any need for large, back breaking stone that is difficult to install. Stone roofing is now as quick and easy to install as roofing tiles. See the full installation guide here: Installation Guide.
Best performance
We tested a traditionally installed stone roof and directly compared it to the Armoured Stone system under the BS PD CEN/TR 15601.
Traditional stone roofs only remain waterproof on a pitch above 35°. Whereas the ArmouredStone system allows stone roofs to be installed as low as 17.5°.

Our Technology - What led us to this innovation
Real stone offers a visually stunning roof that cannot be matched for its long life or appearance. The Armoured Stone system uses real stone as a modern alternative to concrete. The demand for a real stone roof is growing, but the traditional installation method means it is an extremely expensive process, involving skilled labour and structural roof support for the weight. The roof is very heavy and cannot be installed on roofs below 35°, as well as being a highly skilled and expensive process. The Armoured Stone system provides solutions to all of these problems.
